Par cons\u00e9quent, l\u2019Institut de m\u00e9decine am\u00e9ricain a recommand\u00e9 (en 2001) une nouvelle unit\u00e9 : l\u2019\u00e9quivalent d\u2019activit\u00e9 du r\u00e9tinol (EAR). Chaque \u00b5g d\u2019EAR correspond \u00e0 1 \u00b5g de r\u00e9tinol, 2 \u00b5g de \u03b2-carot\u00e8ne dans l\u2019huile, 12 \u00b5g de b\u00eata-carot\u00e8ne \u00ab alimentaire \u00bb ou 24 \u00b5g des trois autres carot\u00e9no\u00efdes provitamin\u00e9s A alimentaires.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Pour \u00eatre bref, notre position est qu\u2019une personne moyenne devrait savoir que l\u2019apport journalier recommand\u00e9 en vitamine A est de 700 \u00e0 900 \u00b5g par jour (autant pour les hommes et que pour les femmes), ce qui peut \u00eatre facilement atteint en suivant un r\u00e9gime alimentaire \u00e9quilibr\u00e9e.
